Community is important here
Community Food Box Project
Located on the sidewalk out front, the Community Food Box is a way to provide free food for those in our neighborhood who may be struggling. Bring in non-perishable goods for a 10% discount on your purchase! (Not combinable with other discounts or coupons).
Give Back Days
Once a month, we dedicate a day to making items to donate. This is a free event with all supplies provided by ReCraft, and community members are invited to come and go as they can. Currently, we've been making hats and scarves for the homeless.
Low Prices & Access To Tools
At ReCraft, it doesn’t matter what your income is. Our cheapest items are free and the most expensive one tops out at $80 (a vintage fur). Most items are 50¢-$1. If you come in and tell me you can’t afford something, we’ll find a way to make sure you go home with the supplies you need. We also have a Maker Space where people can rent tools for low prices.
Little Free Library
We have a Little Free Library box on our porch that is free for anyone to take or leave books. We stock it with donated crafting books and other miscellaneous books that get donated.
This is a place for everyone. We aren’t a non-profit, but ethical and community-minded business practices are the top priority (and low prices are a big part of that).
My favorite quote from a fellow Hoosier comes from Kurt Vonnegut: “Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies- ‘g**d***it, you’ve got to be kind.’”
This Business Is Open To All
Businesses that take the pledge and join Open to All are taking a stand for basic American values of fairness and equality. The pledge is simple. Open to All Businesses pledge to:
• Maintain a welcoming and safe environment for people—including employees, visitors, customers, vendors and clients—regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion or disability.
• Not discriminate against any individuals or deny them goods or services based on any of these characteristics, and to provide goods and services to everyone on the same terms.
Businesses/Organizations We Love
As a small business owner, I was so pleasantly surprised and delighted to discover a supportive and caring community of entrepreneurs and organizations. These are wonderful people to support, so please check out their businesses and #shoplocal!
